In what key ways do the CM2.x family of models differ from the older R15 and R30 models?

The differences are too numerous to list them all here, but in additional to having been developed from entirely new codes, the CM2.x models have finer grid resolution, more numerous and more sophisticated physics parameterizations, include the diurnal cycle, and do not employ flux adjustments.
